 LOOK FOR GUIDANCE

Today's affirmation says to look for guidance.  I've been so anxious all day, waiting by the phone to hear about finalizing my treatment plan.  I have prayed all day for someone to reach out to me and let me know something.  Finally, around 5PM, I received my guidance!  My oncologist called to talk to me.  I owe that phone call to the Lord because I have prayed so hard today for answers.  Originally my plan was to first have my mastectomy followed by chemotherapy.  However, since my tumor has doubled in size, he wants me to do chemotherapy first, followed by surgery second.  I will be undergoing five months of aggressive chemotherapy, beginning next week.  I'm extremely nervous, but at the same time ready to get this going.  I feel like there has been a lot of appointments I've had to go through in order to reach this point.  But I'm glad it is here.  It's go time!  I will be given two chemo drugs once per week for the first 12 weeks.  The remaining 8 weeks haven't been discussed with me yet.  I will need extra prayers during this difficult time, as I know chemotherapy is hard on the body.  Thank you so much to everyone for continuing to pray for me and show me such wonderful support!  It truly means the world to me.

Nov 8, 2024 Today was my routine mammogram and lung CT.  I was more nervous about the lung results than the mammogram.  I never expected anything to be wrong with my mammogram.  Everything went as planned and I left the office more worried about the follow up results from my lung nodules we’ve been following for the past three years.  I went about my day with few concerns.   Nov 12, 2024 Today I received news per mychart as well as a phone call from my doctor that my lung CT looked good and my nodules were stable!  Hooray!  That was the biggest relief.  I then decided to check mychart for my mammogram results, thinking everything would be normal.  I read the words “spiculated mass” in my left breast and was immediately concerned, as I googled spiculated and found out it isn’t a good shape to have on a mass. Then came the phone call.  I knew they were going to tell me about the mass.  They said I would need to have a foll...
RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY CONSULTATION Before I talk about today, I have to mention my setback from yesterday.  I received the results of my MRI and my mass has doubled in size.  There are also two new masses in my left breast.  I had a rough day emotionally dealing with that news.  The sooner I can get surgery scheduled the better. I have decided on a double mastectomy due to the high risk of triple negative breast cancer returning.  I feel like it's the right decision.   Today I met with the plastic surgeon who will be reconstructing my breasts after my mastectomy.  I won't go into too much detail, but it was a good visit and I received a lot of information.  It was the last appointment to check off my list prior to setting up surgery.  I will talk with my oncology surgeon tomorrow to find out my surgery date.  Hopefully it can be as soon as next week.  Keep praying for everything to go smoothly as I go through each step i...
HEAD SHAVING DAY Today marks a pivotal day for me on my journey.  I made the very difficult decision to shave my hair off.  It was time.  My hair has been falling out by the handfuls.  As a woman, losing your hair is such an emotional thing to have happen.  There are certain things in life that define who we are as women and our hair is definitely one of those things.  I decided to let my husband shave my hair off.  It was just the two of us, as I wasn't ready for it to be a family matter.  It was something very private for me.  Yes, I shed some tears.  Tears for what was happening.  Tears for why it was happening.  Tears of grief.  Tears of pride.  Tears for my husband.  The emotional side of losing my hair during all this is definitely overwhelming.  However, as I said before, I'm ok with it.  It is part of the process.  It is temporary and it will grow back.  I will continue to push ...
